ARTIST STATEMENT

Over the past 8 months, I’ve been selecting the best photos from the last 10 years of my travels across the US, overseas, and of experiments I did with lights and macro photography. These photos range from vast open landscapes dotted with farms and water towers, to city skylines where I play with the elements of composition, sometimes breaking them or abiding by them. These photos are meant to interpret my vision of the world, a world made of strange shapes, full of serenity and pockets of colors that can be found everywhere, painting a larger picture of beauty.

Color plays a big role in my photography, it is what I remember the most from everywhere I go. But the thing that draws me to photography the most is the fleeting moment. A technique can be recreated over and over but the moment is unique. Color changes with age, it's always shifting, it is always subjective, but the moment is the only thing that is happening at any given time, everything that came before and whatever it will be is something else entirely new.  Me being present to capture the sky opening up to reveal a torrent is all that matters to me.

My Process is pretty straight forward, it all starts with the daunting task of figuring out what lens to use. I can't tell you how many times I've wished I had the lens I didn't bring with me. One thing I've learned is that you have to make it work and use what you have when you have it. When it comes to my digital darkroom work, I optimize my images to their highest capabilities, and In the process, my photos take a new meaning and become something else entirely new.
